Grulla Blanca y Karate

Due to the proximity of the japanese islands of Okinawa ( the origin of karate ) and this region of china ( fu jian ) there was interchange of culture.

San Zhan is  the first form that we learn. However in karate it used to be the first form, but was then put down for higher grades. All the people in  the clip below are culturally extremely important and represent probably some the purest of what is around today.

The most well-known being the Goju Ryu and Uechi Ryu styles of karate.

Sanchin, meaning three battles, is sometimes interpreted as the battle to unify the mind, body, and spirit; there are other interpretations of it, however.

The version of Sanchin used by most styles of Karate was developed by Goju Ryu founder Chogjun Miyagi and uses a very strong, tense closed fist "push". In Uechi Ryu and in Ryusei, the practice of Sanchin is closer to the Chinese version with faster spear hand strikes a little snake like.

The founder of Uechi Ryu lived and trained his style in Fu Jian.

The traditional karate style are practiced in the Southern islands of Okinawa.

Even today there is much interchange between the cultures -

In the amazing clip below, we have Pan Shr Fu ( Ong Gong Shr Wu Shu Guan ) , Chen Shr Fu ( originally Da Yu Wu Shu Guan ), Gushi Sensei ( Euchi Ryu ) and Higoanna Sensei ( Goju Ryu ) comparing their san zhans ( or san chiem in Karate ).
