Grulla Blanca Y Wing Chun
Wing Chun is practiced mostly in the Foshan and Canton area. Wing Chun in Chinese is pronounced Yong Chun.
Yong chun is the area most renowned as being the source of Southern White Crane. In the most well known legend of Wing Chuns origins, Yim Wing Chun is taught the style by the abbotess Ngo Miu. She is said to have been a White Crane master from the Southern Shaolin temple.
Some of the principles of Wing Chun and White Crane are the same. This of course proves nothing - there are many styles of Wing Chun and also of Crane each with their own principles and they are bound to overlap. So may be the most interesting thing for Wing Chun practitioners as well as looking at where their style might have come from, is the principles that are different. For example we have different centreline principles. And of course there is the matter of the stance.
Most of the people practicing Wing Chun in the world are practicing the Yip Man / Leung Ting Lineage as it was the first to become truly international and commercial hence has the most students. However, from all the Yip Man students we probably have least in common with this lineage.
If you take away our forms and just stick with the training exercises then you end up white something that is quite like Wing Chun. It should be said as well that there is a conception that any form of sticking hands is the domain of Wing Chun. Of course, nearly any system that wants to be working at that kind of distance has something similar inclusive of the traditional karate styles with their "kakie".
In the clip below, we have Sifu Lee Gang from Hong Kong performing a kata from their system which is extremely close to some Wing Chun ideas.
Sifu Lee practices Yong Chun White Crane. His grandfather is in this photograph http://www.yongchunbaihechuen.com/photos/IMG_3732.jpg which is taken from the wall of the Ong Gong Shr Wu Shu Guan in Yong Chun. However I have personally not seen this form performed in Yong Chun itself. It is called "Er Shr Jie Li" ( 12 joint force ) .
